run run riverwalk

while our new home is quite lovely and staying inside 24/7 is tempting, life and genetics suggest otherwise, so a daily run often occurs.
and when it's not 110 degrees, raining cats and dogs or snowing, such runs are most enjoyed in the great outdoors.
which leads me to this week's PMF: The Riverwalk Edition!
we live approximately 20 steps (give or take 10) from the Mishawaka Riverwalk.
and for this, i am eternally grateful.
so here's to you, Riverwalk, thank you for being one charming Nature-Oasis in an otherwise dull and lack-luster area.
love your latest fans,
Mr. & Mrs. Q
ps. we have received some wedding pictures from Our Labor of Love...and they are FAB. we should be getting more next week, so i will post them then. hooray!

flowers for me, flowers for you

helllllooooo friends.
i was feeling a bit blah today, so i decided to get out of the house and visit the South Bend Farmer's Market. my objective: to buy some fresh flowers and in turn, hopefully lift my spirits.
and low and behold, it worked.
placing them here and there, i thought i would share some pics of both the flowers and the slow progression of our new house becoming a home. so far my favorite room in the house is the office/studio, which is surrounded by windows and a view of our beautiful backyard. coming in second is our's peaceful, bright and just lovely.

the sweet life

did everyone have a delightful weekend? it was wicked hot here...but we managed to keep busy and even spend some time outside despite the heat. on sunday Mr. Q mowed our lawn while i went around and picked some flowers from our garden. (screaming every 2 minutes or so because of bees or someother killer bug of course) sadly there weren't too the "wilts" outweigh the "blooms" this time of year...but i was lucky to find some bright greens and pinks in the mix and brought them inside to liven up our kitchen. pretty!
we also made a great breakfast on sunday...scrambled eggs and toast with homemade jam. the jam was packaged with love from our good friend Laurie Johnson who fashioned us a bunch of homemade goodies before we left Milwaukee. see photo - so cute.
lastly, congratulations to the Heideman family who welcomed their 3rd daughter this weekend, Audrey Mae. can't wait to meet you Audrey!

My Milkshake

i recognize that i have not posted too much about our new house. perhaps it's because there are still boxes. or because the stuff that *is* unpacked is everywhere. but mostly it's because i think i'm still trying to figure it all out.
but this couldn't wait.
Ruby and King bring all the cats to our (back)yard.
there are like 2-3 outside cats that come to our kitchen window to see Ruby and King. they sit on opposite sides of the window. i'm trying to get a picture but it's quite difficult. at first there was just one cat, who we are calling "Bob" and then this morning there was another one and another one. i think "Bob" told everyone about the hot new housecats.
in a way i feel sort of bad the tough outdoor cats are mocking my WASPy housecats.
while it's cute...i'm also a little creeped out...

like, in a Suburban-Feral-Cats-Attack horror movie sort of way...

Photo Montage....Wednesday?

to say that life is far from normal right now would be an understatement. so it's no surprise that our traditional "Photo Montage Friday" falls on a wednesday. wait, is it wednesday? this is how confused i am on what day it even is...
regardless, having kicked some serious butt in terms of unpacking the past two days, i decided to take a break and post a photo montage: Wedding Day Edition. hooray!
it was only fitting that Milwaukee would celebrate our marriage with just as much pomp and circumstance as we imagined. and by celebrate, i mean it was most likely the busiest weekend of the summer with events, festivals and overall chaos. did i mention our ceremony and reception all took place in the heart of it all? here is a taste of what else was going on (besides our wedding) on July 25th:
- German Fest
- Downer Avenue Bike Race
- Riverwest Bike Race
- Gallery night and day
- Brady Street Fest (milwaukee likes its festivals)
- Bradford Beach Jam
and last but not least:
the Air and Water Show at the lakefront (crowd favorite)
so i'm sure you're wondering how we even managed to tie the knot.
well, we did and it was wonderful. despite the roaring Blue Angels that tore up the sky during our vows (we like to think it was them giving us their blessing) the day was beautiful and spectacular.
there is not much to say except that it was, without a doubt, the

From Miss to Mrs.

This is how fast life goes.
One minute you're blogging about a lazy monday in your wedding shoes in your apartment with a view of the lake...the next minute you are barefoot amongst boxes upon boxes, barely finding your way to the computer, in a new house (in another state) with a view of the backyard, married.
Um, when did all that happen?
Lots of things to catch up on.
We have not gotten our professional pics from Our Labor of Love yet (awesomeness takes time) but we were lucky to have TONS of great pics from our friends, so as a teaser, here are some for your viewing enjoyment.
More to come...
